Website Analysis and Research 5: Taking Back Sunday

Images and Logo:
The site is basically centered around an image of the band themselves at the top of the website. There is also images advertising events and showing 'featured' photographs of shows they have done, promoting that they are known as a good live band as well as just a studio band.
Genre:
As they belong to the pop-punk sort of genre, their home page has many conventions that help to establish this without the need of music to confirm it. The in your face graphics and choice of colour and backgrounds help to show that they are a pop-punk band.
New Technology and Links:
Included in this website are several examples of new technologies. There are opportunities to sign up to mobile and/or email updates. There is also a live twitter feed from the band members which can be viewed by those who go on the website. At the very bottom of the page, there are links to external websites, such as twitter, facebook, myspace and formspring.
Colour and Style:
The colours are very typical of the genre - dull and gritty that promote the punk image that they conform to. The colour scheme doesn't vary much from black, grey and white other than in the news feed headings, which are blue.
Written Content:
There is a large emphasis on written content, as the news feed is the centre of the page, filling the entire homepage. There are links to other pages such as photos, tour information etc. however the written content is basically the main focus of the page. Written content is the bulk of the website it seems.
Font and Layout:
The font is very standard and not particularly fancy or outlandish. The band name is the only place where the font is striking, as it is in large, bolded letters that draw you into the page. The layout is very uniformed and easy to follow, showing clear headings and signposts towards whatever you want to find on the website.
Target Audience:
The target audience is obviously fans of the band, however as a whole it would probably address punk/rock types more than anyone else due to the nature of the homepage. For example, the colour scheme would attract his sort of audience more so than any other.
Advertisements:
The only advertisements used are links to external websites related to the band themselves. There are no adverts present that advertise anything other than the band and things they relate to.
