APPROPRIATENESS OF THE DIGIPACK TO THE GENRE:
The digipack uses an overall theme that shows impressive and obscure artwork, both on the front cover and the other covers respectively. The dark colours are appropriate to the genre, yet there is no element of the grungey sort of scenes that are associated with pop-punk as a genre. The fact that the theme runs throughout the digipak is appropriate towards the genre.
MISE-EN-SCENE AND ITS MEANING/EFFECT:
The mise-en-scene gives a sense of grandeur - the gold and red colours along with the red curtain suggest this. There are several graphics included that are visually interesting and really promote this sense of elegance that perhaps is contradictory to the genre they are in. Pop-punk is about being gritty and this digipack boasts this slight feeling of elegance instead.
THE LAYOUT AND FONT AND ITS EFFECT:
The font coincides with the mise-en-scene in the sense that it is a very sophisticated font. The layout is very uniformed which is once again contradictory to the genre, which perhaps could be seen as ironic that a pop-punk band promote their CD through the use of grand and sophisticated visuals.
THE IMAGE AND STYLE - HOW DOES IT SELL THE ARTIST/BAND?
The image and style is not very obvious as the band are not photographed for this digipack. This is a typical convention of pop-punk, as we very often see graphics instead of photographs of the band on the front cover of CDs. I feel that in this way, the artist is sold in the way that they want their music to be their main focus and not their look/image and style.
