During one of our A2 Media lessons, we looked at target audiences and focused on making a clear decision on who our music video is to be targeted at. This is an important stage within the planning process - without this knowledge, a successful video cannot be made to a good standard.
- Who is your target audience?
Age: 15 - 20
Gender: Arguably, males but can be both - not specific.
Sexuality: Any.
Subculture: Emo/Punks
Class: Any.
- How do we know this? Where do we get this information from?
I'd say that we know this mainly from looking at their fan base and the way in which they portray themselves through image and demeanour. Their fans range from 15 - 20 as their lyrics are often quite explicit. Also, in their 19 year history, you would imagine their fans have grown up with this music. Their image promotes quite a punk/rock look, which would attract tfans from the subculture of emo/punk. They have previously been seen as quite a fun, immature band, which appeals to the teenage and young adult audience, although they have now started to show they do have a mature side also - still managing to appeal to the younger generation, however.
