Hey, that was pretty sweet. Much better than my A2 work from last year. Just a few suggestions, I don't understand why the drummer has pots, when everybody else has real instruments. Also, when the guy who's ran away is miming to the chorus in the phone booth, it looks as if he is properly singing (Liking shaking his head etc) I dunno, maybe that's what you were going for but I thought he was meant to be just saying it. Another few things, the main singer (Who does a very good tom delonge impression btw) seems to pull faces when he sings that don't seem to match the overall theme of the song. If you look into other music video's etc, the singers always seem to look like the theme of the song, sad, happy, angry, etc. I also thought that music was going to be the boy's saviour etc, but then the singer pushes him out of the way. I didn't understand that either.
I did find it very good though, just those certain things confused me a little bit, or didn't make sense to me. Also, I think you should add like his mum slapping him etc at the start. Would explain why he ran away even more, or if he got shouldered out of the way instead.
I hope I helped, i'm not trying to have a big moan as I did really like it!
Keep up the good work, I know how tough pre production can be in media!
- The drummer has pots and pans as we were trying to develop a sort of homeless, outcasted feel to the band image. We thought it would be in keeping with the run down setting and would tie in nicely with the idea of the kid running away from home and eventually, becoming homeless. Also, we tried to think of an innovative way to avoid transporting a full drum kit to the location, and when we pitched the idea to our class, they seemed to really enjoy the it and thought it was clever. - The actor was meant to be saying the words and I understand what you mean here. That just seems to be the way that he chose to act out the scene in this case. - The lead singer's opinion (as well as the rest of the band) was intended to be seen as rather indifferent to the boy's sitution. We wanted to carry on the idea that the kid is very much not cared for and ignored, thus that is why he ran away from home. We wanted them to be seen as entirely detached from his situation until he stumbles across them, at which point, he would then find himself once again the victim and treated poorly. - We initially considered a more violent approach to the mother/son situation, but decided that not only would this be difficult to make convincing, it would also be more of a serious issue that we thought may be difficult to tackle.
Thank you again for your comments, they were much appreciated :) I'm glad you enjoyed it.
